Character Bios:
Ultimate Captain America:
In 1940, as America prepared for war, young and frail Steve Rogers volunteered for an experiment that transformed him into the ultimate physical specimen: Captain America. Enhanced by the Super-Soldier Serum, Captain America's agility, strength, endurance and reaction time were superior to those of an Olympic-level athlete. Cap also mastered a number of fighting forms, including American-style boxing and judo. These abilities, combined with his indestructible shield, made him one of the finest human combatants Earth had ever known. Steve Rogers battled the Nazis until a mishap placed him in suspended animation deep within the Himalayan Mountains. Decades later he was discovered by Tony Stark and S.H.I.E.L.D. and became a cornerstone of the Ultimates.

Extremis Iron Man:
When Tony Stark was injected with Extremis, it was an act of desperation done to save his life. It was unknown what that untested nanotech virus would do to him. In the end, however, it expanded his mind, enhanced his abilities, and rebuilt his body into a living weapon. Granted full cybernetic interface with his armor and any nearby technology, he became truly invincible, and nearly unstoppable.

Sculpt and Paint:
These were two figures from the Return of Marvel Legends that I was really looking forward to and they both deliver in their own way. The sculpt on both is great but Iron Man's is truly remarkable. Every line, every groove, every repulsor is comic book accurate. It looks like he literally flew right off the page of the comics. The attention to detail is fantastic. Ultimate Cap likewise has a good sculpt, but it is a reused body with new parts. The new parts include his vest, belt, head, gloves, and boots, all of which are sculpted wonderfully. The rest of his body comes from the Steve Rogers of Wave 1, which is kind of ingenious as they are supposed to be the same person.
The head sculpt itself is actually the same as Steve's but with a mask on of course. This allows swappable heads to create masked and unmasked looks! That is a a cool little touch. The belt has a lot of detail, including a sculpted on canteen, knife, and two grenades. As far as paint goes, they are both exceptionally done. The only things to look out for on Iron Man are the black on the eyes and mouth on the mask. For Cap look at the white on the arms, the star on his chest, the stripes on his torso, the "A" on his head, and watch for the blue of the mask bleeding down into his face. My only gripe with his paint is that Ultimate Cap should have a star on each shoulder, which he does not. He should also have grey under his armpits on both side, where as this figure only has it on one side. Other than that, you're good.
Articulation and Accessories:
In the way of articulation for The Captain he has a ball-hinge head, swivel-hinge shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinge elbows, swivel forearms, an ab crunch, a swivel waist, swivel-hinge hips, swivel thighs, double-hinge knees, swivel calves, and hinge-pivot ankles. Mr.Stark has has a swivel-ball head, swivel-hinge shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinge elbows, swivel-hinge wrists, a ball jointed torso, swivel-hinge hips, swivel thighs, double-hinge knees, and swivel-hinge ankles. Cap in my opinion has the better articulation. Unfortunately for Iron Man, his leg articulation at the hips is incredibly limited.
For Captain America's accessories he includes a removable vest, belt, and his shield. Iron Man has none.
OVERALL:
These are some great figures even with their minor faults. I would still strongly recommend them for your shelf. I know these will be my new definitive Captain America and Iron Man!
