Some Updates

Sorry for lack of posts as of late, I've had a family member undergo surgery and haven't had much free time. I have seen Man of Steel and am hoping to have a review up on the site rather soon, and as far as figure reviews, I'm not sure when they will come in but I do have three figures currently on pre-order that I cannot wait to do reviews for! The Marvel Select Iron Man 3 Mark 42 and War Machine as well as the NECA 1/4 Scale Man of Steel Superman!

And here are the first four figured to come from DC Collectible's Arkham Origins Line, Batman, Black Mask, Bane, and Joker! All I know regarding their release is that it will be around the game's October release.

Review of Iron Man 3 Marvel Legends Wave 2 Iron Patriot!

Finally got this figure in from amazon the other day. Now initially I wasn't going to get this guy because I was never a big Iron Patriot fan but after seeing the movie I had to order this guy. The armor, I think, looks so much better in the cinematic universe than in the comic universe. Something about it I just really like to the point where it is my second favorite armor to come out of the movie, second to the Heartbreaker armor which I'm praying gets some 6" figure love somewhere down the line. Anyway, let's get it on!

Character Bio:

Tony Stark allows one of his armors to be used by the U.S. Military under the control of his close friend James "Rhodey" Rhodes. The War Machine armor is one of the natiosn top defenses but it was decided that it needed a more media-friendly name and with a new paint job reflecting the ol' U.S.A. the Iron Patriot was created to protect and serve.

Now before I begin if during the review you notice the figure has some paint apps that yours doesn't, nothings wrong with yours, I noticed that the figure was missing some paint that the movie armor has so I decided to add it in before the review in case you guys want to do the same to yours.

Sculpt and Paint:

Damn. This sculpt is insane. I flat out love the design of the Iron Patriot in the film. Something about the suit just looks so damn cool to me and I just cannot speak highly enough of the sculpt on this guy. There's so many little grooves and panels on him it's nuts!  I just, I feel like i'm  saying it over and over but his design just works so damn well. The paint on him is also fantastic. When I cracked him open there was no paint chips, smudging, nothing. Everything was perfectly painted and I couldn't have asked for a better figure. The only areas I added the paint are the back, rib area, around his knees,  and his cannon.

 Articulation and Accessories:
Alright so right away you can tell by looking at the pics below the shoulder cannon is guna need some paint. I used a silver sharpie paint marker and a red one. Regardless the cannon is his only accessory and it is articulated, there is a swivel at the base of the cannon itself and a hinge right below that swivel. It can fit into either plug on his back but I think plugging it into the right side and then swinging it over gives the best results. It can also, as seen below, be folded up and put behind his back.

In terms of articulation Iron Patriot has a ball-hinge neck, hinge shoulder pads, swivel-hinge shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinge elbows, slightly limited swivel-hinge wrists, a balljointed waist, ball jointed hips(Marvel Universe style), swivel thighs, double-hinge knees, and swivel-hinge  ankles, but they're very limited by his shin armor.

Height Comparison:
In case your wondering about his height and scale with other Iron Man Marvel Legends here he is next to the Iron Man 3 6" War Machine.

Overall:
Iron Patriot really took me by surprise. I never thought I would really like the armor this much but I'm so glad I got this guy. He is definitely one of my favorite Iron Man 6" figures and I cannot recommend him enough! Slight issues aside I'm going to give him a 9.5 out of 10!!

That's it for today, check back for a review of the Heroic Age armor from the same line as Ol' Iron Patriot and a review of the Marvel Select Mark 42 and War Machine as soon as they come out at the end of this month!

MAN OF STEEL press conference with the cast and crew!

Go-Figure Post #5

Hey guys! For today's Go-Figure post, we'll be taking a look at some very slight mods.

New 52 Superman and Batman:
Basically, for Batman, its the DC Comics Unlimited Batman, I cut the cape but left the neck piece and glued on a cloth cape, and outlined his muscles and suit lines with black sharpie. For Superman, the body is a DC Comics Unlimited Superman, a random Superman head, a cloth cape, and like Batman I outlined the muscles and suit lines with black Sharpie.

Arkham City Nightwing:
Like the previous two I outlined the muscles and suit lines with black sharpie. I sanded down his massive jaw an added some hair so it doesn't look flat against his head.  I sanded down his inner knee joint to allow them to bend back farther, and I gave him new escrima sticks with an electric current effect and added clips to his back to hold them.

Ghost Riders:
These are the Marvel Legends 2012 Wave 1 Red and Blue Ghost Riders. Blue is Danny Ketch, I kept his look the same but replaced the cumbersome plastic jacket with a cloth one but kept the upper half rubber (you'll see in the pics) I also added real chains to his belt and gave him a chain weapon. The Red, Johnny Blaze, I revamped for a mix of Road to Damnation and Hammer Lane.

Hope you guys enjoyed!
